The Outreach of Two Brides' Early Childhood Marriage Case
WEST LOMBOK (October 16, 2020) - The "Paramita" Social Rehabilitation Center for Children Need Special Protection (BRSAMPK) team in Mataram together with Social Worker Serve Unit (Sakti Peksos) conducted an outreach to the case of early childhood marriage M (16), Y (16) with the groom named R (20) in the area of Sekotong West Lombok Regency, NTB.
The "Paramita" Children's Center team in Mataram, accompanied by Village Supervisory Non-commissioned Officers (Babinsa), Community Police Officer (Babinkamtibmas) and village officials, met R's parents asking for information whether it was true that his son married two brides at once.
After obtaining the truth of the information, "Paramita" Children's Center Team regretted that this had happened considering that the bride was still a student. The team hoped that the parents of the groom could provide input to consider their son's wish when he asked for marriage permission. Parents should postpone their children's wishes because their children are still very young and do not have jobs so that they will become a burden for the family in the future, especially if they are still students.
Actually this incident was known by the village government and the local hamlet, but the village government could not take any action because the marriage had already occurred.
On this occasion the "Paramita" Children's Center team also held a meeting with the village government, Babinsa and Babinkantibmas regarding this issue. The "Paramita" Children's Center team hopes that similar incidents will not happen again and encourages the village government, assisted by Babinsa and Babinkantibmas officials to carry out a movement to prevent early marriage. In addition, the team also hopes that the West Lombok Social Office through Sakti Peksos will support activities to prevent early marriage.
