The Quick Response of the Center for Disability “Kartini” to Help the Neglected Elderly

TEMANGGUNG (27 April 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Center for Disability "Kartini" Temanggung responded to public complaints about the existence of a neglected elderly, Sumini (78) that lives alone in an uninhabitable house in RT 02 RW 04 Cublikab Sub District, Kowangan Village, Temanggung District, Temanggung Regency, Central Java.

The "Kartini" Disability Center assigned the Social Worker to visit the house of the neglected elderly and carry out an assessment. From the results of the assessment, it was found that Sumini lived alone in a house that was unfit for habitation, without toilet facilities. Her eye health is also affected, so it needs treatment. To fulfill her daily needs, Sumini only relies on the compassion of her neighbors who care about her condition, including the need for clean water and electricity by connecting the electricity lines from her neighbor's house.

Furthermore, the "Kartini" Disability Center team coordinated with the Temanggung Social Service regarding the condition of the house which was unfit for habitation and also coordinated with the Health Office regarding eye medication.
