TANGERANG (January 6, 2021) - Precisely in Pondok Bakar Village RT 09/RW02, Karang Tengah District, Tangerang City, the Bekasi ''Budhi Dharma'' Outreach Team took timely follow-up on public complaints about the presence of elderly people who need assistance accessibility in the form of a wheelchair for daily mobility.

Head of "Budhi Dharma" Center Pujiyanto ordered the team immediately to the location.

''We provide fast, precise and best service for the elderly, do it with full dedication like we give the best for our parents," said Puji.

''Nyai Sopia (77 years old), has been suffering from pain for 4 years which has resulted in her legs being unable to walk due to osteoporosis, so she has to go to the bathroom and cannot leave the house if she is not helped,'' said Bodas, the grandson who always takes care of him.

"Every day Nyai is only on this foam mattress to sleep, eat and watch television, occasionally goes to the bathroom and goes to the door but never leaves the house," continued Bodas.

"Our family is worried if the flood suddenly comes, like last year, I am concerned because Nyai is on the floor while the flood can be waist-deep, so it is difficult for us to take Nyai to a higher place. wheels and quickly brought up," added Bodas

The Head of RT Muradi added that the location is a flood-prone area, because there are no wheelchairs, so it is difficult to evacuate residents, especially the elderly, like Nyai Soopia.

''In this condition, we prioritize children and the elderly, but if their movement or mobility is limited and they need assistance such as being carried, propped up, then we need a long time to carry them upwards or to a road that has a higher ground than Nyai Sopia's house," explained Muradi.

To fulfill her daily needs, Nyai Soopia relies on her grandson Bodas, who works as an online motorcycle taxi driver who has to support his wife and children, who are still small and a toddler aged 1 year, and is often not at home because he has to work.

Despite the economic difficulties, Bodas and the other grandchildren still took care of Nyai Soopia sincerely, so that Nyai feels comfortable living at home with them, even in limited conditions. The house that is currently occupied is Sopia's, meanwhile Bodas and his wife also live there to take care of her.

According to Ika, another grandchild of Nyai Sopia, ''Nyai is not fussy, she is obedient, accepts the condition, she is independent, because before she was sick, her daily job was as a traveling vegetable seller, and therefore although now she can't go anywhere, Nyai still trying to be independent, for example going to the bathroom by herself eventhough she struggles."

Seeing Nyai Sopia and her family who still want to take care of her, the Center's Team immediately handed the wheelchair, and persuaded her to be able and willing to use the wheelchair.

"Let me, don't take me, just let me stay here," said Nyai when the officer asked her to try sitting in a wheelchair, which she thought would take her to the Center.

After being persuaded by the officers to try to sit in a wheelchair so that she could leave the house to breathe fresh air in the yard, finally Nyai wanted to be lifted and tried the wheelchair happily and smiled happily with emotion.
