SUBANG (February 11, 2021) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center Bekasi sent a case response team to provide protection for the elderly victims of the flood disaster in Subang Regency since Tuesday (9/2/2021).
Rain with high intensity on Sunday, February 7, 2021 starting at 01.00 WIB, caused an increase in water discharge and flooding in Subang Regency with 38,453 people displaced due to being affected by flooding (data of Subang Regency Regional Board for Disaster Management).
Floods that occur have an impact on the physical and psychological community. The vulnerable group affected by the flood apart from children, pregnant women, are the elderly. Elderly people who are affected by floods are more susceptible to disease and have limited activities in the evacuee camps.
Anticipating the impact of flooding on the elderly, the Head of the "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center Bekasi , Pujiyanto assigned a case response team (Resus Team) to the location and conduct an assessment of the needs of elderly refugees affected by the flood. Puji advised that the assessment be carried out in detail and precisely so that the needs of the elderly are immediately given.
The team coordinated with the Chief Executive of the Regional Disaster Management Agency, Hidayat regarding the handling of elderly flood victims in Pamanukan District, Subang Regency (Tuesday, 9/2/2021). There were 4 affected villages in Pamanukan District and took refuge in 4 evacuee post points, namely Al Muklisin Mosque, Darul Ma'Arif Vocational School, Graha Pamanukan and Pamanukan GOR.
The Bekasi “Budhi Dharma” Elderly Center resus team, represented by social worker Leviana Kusumaningrum, accompanied by Hana Paulus and Yopi Sigit Ariyanto, identified and assessed the flood-affected elderly at 4 evacuation post points in Pamanukan District and went directly to the homes of the elderly who had returned to their homes. their respective homes in Ciasem District.
"Efforts to provide protection for the elderly affected by flooding are by going directly to the evacuation post, conducting direct needs assessments for the elderly due to the unavailability of special data for the affected elderly," said Levi, social worker at the Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center.

The results of data collection and identification of the needs of 85 elderly people who were victims of flooding and were in evacuee camps in 2 sub-districts visited by officers from Tuesday to Thursday (9 -11 February 2021), namely Pamanukan District and Ciasem District, generally urgent needs needed at this time were basic necessities, clothing, vitamins, rubbing oil, clean water for ADL, and a shortage of generators at the evacuation post.
In carrying out this activity, the "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center Bekasi team also synergized with the Bekasi "Tan Miyat" Disability Center to respond to disasters in accordance with the flood management cluster in Subang Regency as the implementation of Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI).
