GOWA (November 4, 2020) - "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Social Rehabilitation Center (BRSLU) in Gowa which is the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs within the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, dispatched case response team officers in Gowa Regency. The case response team was deployed to follow up on complaints from the community regarding the elderly who need social rehabilitation services.
M (64 years old) is reported to live alone in a simple house behind a community-owned fruit stall on Jl. Usman Salengke No. 51, Gowa Regency.
Receiving the report, the Head of “Gau Mabaji” Elderly Center in Gowa, Wahidin assigned the Case Response Team to carry out its duties and functions to restore and develop directed, integrated and sustainable social functioning of the elderly by conducting an initial assessment of the elderly.
Based on the results of the initial assessment by "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa team, information was obtained that M is a widower who has two children. The old man's house, which had been riding behind a fruit stall owned by a resident, burned down due to an electric short circuit. Now he lives with his second child in a simple house with nine family members.
In addition to social assessments, the Center Team also conducts basic health assessments for the elderly, such as general condition, physical examination, independence status, mental status, function and cognitive abilities of the elderly.
"Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa team, represented by Atika Karunia Zulfa as the Public Relation of Center said that in the future, the paradigm shift of social rehabilitation services in the ATENSI (Social Rehabilitation Assistance) program will be carried out with a comprehensive system.
"One of the points of changing the paradigm of social rehabilitation services in the ATENSI program will be carried out with a comprehensive system, this means that services must be carried out thoroughly, one of which is in the case response activity this time a comprehensive assessment is carried out starting from social problems to the health of the elderly," said Atika. .
In line with the ATENSI program, in the future, social rehabilitation services for the elderly will not only be carried out on a Residential basis at Centers but will also focus more on the Family and Community bases. M case will be discussed together in order to obtain appropriate social rehabilitation services through the closest source system.
Through appropriate social rehabilitation services, it is hoped that the elderly can be independent, prosperous and efficient.
