GOWA (March 18, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Toddopuli Children's Center in Makassar conducted a community-based Child Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program (ATENSI) activity. The Head of "Toddopuli" Children's Center Makassar, Christiana Junus, opened the Community Care for Children (KOMPAK) in Kanjilo Village, Barombong District, Gowa Regency.

The KOMPAK socialization activity was attended by 20 participants consisting of the Head of the Gowa District Social Office, the Head of the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service, the Head of the Gowa District Attorney, the Head of the Barombong District, Village Heads, Lurah, religious leaders, youth leaders and community leaders in Barombong District.

Christiana said that the implementation of KOMPAK in Kanjilo Village was a replication of the program that had been implemented in Sidrap Regency. Thus, currently there are 3 locations in 2 districts implementing KOMPAK, namely Sipodeceng Village, Tonronge Village, and Kanjilo Village.

"The focus of KOMPAK is to build awareness, concern, and participation of community members in child protection," said Christiana. Efforts will be made to "train key community leaders involved in KOMPAK to identify children's needs and issues, design activities, and mobilize communities to provide support to children and families".

Syamsuddin, Head of the Gowa District Social Service, welcomed KOMPAK's activities in Kanjilo Village. "Hopefully, with the collaboration of the Toddopuli Children's Center with the Regional Government and the community, efforts to protect children in the community can be achieved well," he said.

The outreach participant, Yeni Andriani, who is also the Head of the Gowa District Attorney's Office, hopes that the surrounding villages and sub-districts can learn about the KOMPAK implementation model to better protect children. Yeni explained that "The cases involving children handled by the Gowa District Attorney cannot be separated from the participation of the community's concern for the situation and condition of the child". Through the KOMPAK program, Yeni hopes that the community will be able to participate in activities that will be initiated by KOMPAK.
