Traders Around Moestopo Campus are Happy to Receive Basic Food Assistance

JAKARTA (July 7, 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Directorate General of Social Empowerment continues to make efforts to distribute social assistance evenly through various elements of society, including the academic community.

Today, the Director General of Social Empowerment, Edi Suharto, symbolically handed over 5,355 presidential food packages to the Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Moestopo, Prof. Dr. Rudy Harjanto, M.Sn, at Prof. University. Dr. Moestopo (Religious).

"We, the Ministry of Social Affairs, distribute basic necessities to affected students from outside Jakarta, the scope is also for the community around Prof. University. Dr. Moestopo is like a mosque administrator, a trader," explained Edi.

This basic food social assistance is an effort by the government so that all levels of society can feel the benefits during this Covid-19 pandemic.

"Thank you to the Ministry of Social Affairs for entrusting us to help distribute social assistance to residents around campus and the academic community," added the Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Moestopo.

The social food assistance will then be distributed to street vendors in front of the campus, residents of RT 09 RW 06 Musholla alley, Gunung Village, Wijaya Gang Langgar, Simprug Golf residents, Gelora Village residents, and the Simprug Mosque congregation.

"Thanks to the President and the Ministry of Social Affairs, thank God we will distribute this assistance to those who need it according to the data we have submitted," said Muhammad Iqbal, DKM of the Nurul Hidayah Mosque, Petogogan Village.

Muhammad Iqbal added that many of the surrounding residents are poor and orphans who need to get help.

"During Covid-19, the shop was closed and only started to open in the last 2 weeks. Sales are quiet, campus is quiet, those who pass are also quiet, it's not enough for capital," explained Tugimin, owner of a Jogja rice stall in front of the Moestopo Campus.

Also present in the activities of the Vice Chancellor, Dean, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Deputy Dean, University lecturers Prof. Dr. Moestopo.
