MINAHASA RAYA (October 9th, 2019) - A happy hue radiated from the face of Sweny Tumundo, one of the Persons with Blind Sensory Disabilities (PDSN) who received aids from the "Tumou Tou" Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Blind Sensory Disabilities (BRSPDSN) in Manado.
Sweny expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs Republic of Indonesia for providing aids such as a smartphone talkback and a blind stick.
Thank you to the Ministry of Social Affairs for providing aids for us, persons with disabilities. This tool is very useful to facilitate our lives, persons with disabilities” she said with a strong Minahasa accent.
In 2019 the "Tumou Tou" BRSPDSN will provide 75 aids for PDSN in 12 districts / cities in North Sulawesi Province to be distributed in October. On Wednesday (9/10), the aids were distributed to PDSN in Manado City area, Minahasa Regency, and Tomohon City.
Yayat Supriatna as Section Head of Social Rehabilitation Service “Tumou Tou" BRSPDSN, Manado explained that the aids provided to PDSN were talkback smartphones, braille watches and blind sticks.
"These aids are PDSN needs based on the assessment and verification of the Team from the" Tumou Tou "BRSPDSN, provincial social Services sgency, and district / city social services agency," he explained.
Yayat said that various applications on talkback smartphones greatly facilitate PDSN. There are applications such as text messages to voice messages, nominal money detectors, money authenticity detectors and various other applications.
"Meanwhile, a braille watch is a needs for the PDSN to find out the time, and a blind stick is needed in the orientation and mobility of the PDSN," he added.
In addition to North Sulawesi Region, "Tumou Tou" BRSPDSN will also provide 60 aids for PDSN in West Papua Province.
