JAKARTA (June 26, 2020) - The Social Rehabilitation Service Unit for Children with Disabilities (ULRSAD) of the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation for Children held a Children and Family Strengthening Meeting (TePAK) for children with disabilities to increase the knowledge and insight of parents, teachers and therapists in providing a comfortable and safe environment for children in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ULRSAD supervisor, Fajar Putra Nur Rahman conveyed the theme of TePAK which focuses on how to apply positive reinforcement parenting styles to children with disabilities.

"By taking the theme of Positive Reinforcement as the Key to the Success of Parenting at Home, we hope that every parent is able to provide new enthusiasm for children so that adaptive behavior patterns and other positive behaviors appear in children," explained Fajar.

TePAK in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic uses Whatsapp group media with customized voice messages and powerpoint media. The activity was attended by 51 people consisting of beneficiary families and the general public.

In the first session, the material began with an introduction to family parenting patterns and the impact of these parenting patterns. Next, the second session with positive reinforcement material and steps that can be taken to get started. Many parents feel awakened and reflect on their parenting to apply positive reinforcement to their children at the end of the event.

The beneficiary families express their gratitude to the ULRSAD team and therapists for having TePAK, so that they can be used as material for evaluating appropriate parenting patterns.

Hopefully, the implementation of TePAK this time can provide many benefits for families of children with disabilities.
