MANADO (27 April 2021) - We often hear the term of Ngabuburit (killing time before Iftar) when the holy month of Ramadan has arrived. The activity of waiting for the time for breaking the fast which is usually dominated by young people, this time was different because there was one of the band from the Manado Disability Center  "Tumou Tou", all of whose personnel were visually impaired.

One of the cafes in the North Minahasa area presented Band from the Manado "Tumou Tou" Disability Center as a special guest on Saturday, April 24, 2021. The special appearance was performed by 5 people with disabilities.

There were 5 total songs delivered with the addition of 2 song requests from the audience present. The cafe visitors were quite busy and enthusiastic about the appearance of this Band to coincide with the Sunday night moments.

In addition to providing opportunities for blind people to showcase their talents, Coconut Wood cafe also presents hearing and speech disabilities community from Bitung. The audience who attended was also dominated by various communities in North Sulawesi participated to enliven the event.

"We provide opportunities for special and talented friends to be able to appear in front of the community. I was accompanied by my friends, Billy Beny and Reynaldy Lengkong who were also supported by the Creative Back Team, namely North Minahasa and One Love. Thank you to the Band from "Tumou Tou" Manado for jointly enlivening the event this evening. Good luck for your future with your good talents, " explained the owner of Coconut Wood Cafe, Brian Junior Katiandaho.

The history of the establishment of the Manado “Tumou Tou” Disability Band was preceded by an activity held in August 2017 to appear to entertain the public who was ordered by the Head of Center, Kamsiaty Rotty.

“Initially, this band was created for art therapy for beneficiaries. Over time, we develop it to facilitate the interests and talents of blind people and create self-confidence to be able to appear on stage, in front of many people,” explained Kamsiaty.

The performance of the band began the implementation of the ATENSI Creation Center at the Manado "Tumou Tou" Disability Center. In the future, this band will also attend the events at various activities and cafes in North Sulawesi. The actualization of their art, which can bring economic benefits to their income directly, is a form of economic independence.
