JAKARTA (July 2, 2020) - Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat was the keynote at the Web Seminar (Webinar) with the theme “Improving the Role of Families in Social Rehabilitation for Victims of Drug Abuse” organized by Balai Napza "Satria" Baturraden.

The event, which lasted for two days, July 2-3, 2020, was held to commemorate the International Anti-Narcotics Day (HANI) 2020. This webinar is in line with the steps taken by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs in changing the paradigm that leads to efforts to increase the role of the family in the social rehabilitation process.

"Families are involved intensively to take actions, not only curative, but also preventive," said Harry. This means that family support is very important in the success of social rehabilitation of drug abuse victims.

In addition, the Director General of Social Rehabilitation said that all parties need to jointly reflect in fighting drug trafficking which has become an extraordinary crime. "Structural and functional approaches directed at family based care, community based care, and residential based care are a form of obligation that the state is present to reduce the number of victims of drug abuse," said Harry.

The Social Rehabilitation Assistance Process Business is a program policy that is able to synergize the implementation of family-based social rehabilitation, based on Social Welfare Institutions (LKS) or Institute for Compulsory Reporting (IPWL) and based on Balai/Panti.

The implementation of Social Rehabilitation Assistance for victims of drug abuse is carried out by providing intensive family support in the form of home care, family preservation, parenting skills and psychoeducation, as well as family counseling. Involvement of beneficiary families from the beginning is an important factor and a determining factor in the success of social rehabilitation for drug abuse victims.

"Here, the role of social workers must be strong. Social workers have professional authority to enter the family environment. We can also involve LKS and IPWL. Family efforts to carry out social rehabilitation also receive assistance from the Balai, it can also be a synergy from the three, namely the family, LKS or IPWL and Balai, " concluded the Director General of Social Rehabilitation.

This webinar was attended by 430 participants who are members of the interactive Zoom and 36 participants through a live broadcast via the Youtube channel of the Social Rehabilitation Center for Drug Abuse Victims "Satria" in Baturraden. Presenting the speakers who are competent in their fields, namely from Erry Wijoyo, Program Officer of the Colombo Plan Drugs Advisory Program and Narendra Narotama, Program Officer of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
