MAGELANG (May 22, 2020) - Celebrating Eid Al-Fitr, the Magelang “Antasena” Children's Center distributed food packages for children affected by COVID-19. These basic food packages were given to 782 children, including 292 children in the neighborhood around the center and 490 children from 16 Child Social Welfare Institutions (LKSA) in Magelang Regency and Magelang City.
Food packages worth Rp300,000 consisted of 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of eggs, 800 gr of milk, 330 gr of chocolate-flavored cereal, 1 jar of sausage, and 137 gr of chocolate biscuits. The recipients of this assistance are neglected children, children victims of physical violence, children with disabilities, and children victims of sexual crimes.
This basic food assistance is an effort by the Magelang Children's Center to fulfill basic needs and improve children's nutrition to face the COVID-19 pandemic. “We hope that the assistance can fulfill basic needs and reduce the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.” Explained the head of the Magelang “Antasena” Children’s Center, Singgih Wahyu Purnomo.
The distribution of basic food social assistance was symbolically given by the Head of the Center and the Regent of Magelang to the Head of the LKSA. The activity carried out at the Magelang “Antasena” Children’s Center was attended by the Sub-Directorate Head of Social Rehabilitation of Neglected Children of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Regent of Magelang, the Social Service, Sectoral Police (Polsek) and Military District Command Sector (Koramil) of Salaman, 16 LKSA administrators who received assistance, the Head of Sidomulyo Village, and the Head of Salaman District.
The Regent of Magelang, Zaenal Arifin, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Magelang “Antasena” Children's Center for the attention and concern of children facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I, as the Regent of Magelang, together with the local government, would like to express our gratitude and highest appreciation for the social assistance from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Magelang “Antasena” Children's Center,” he said.
“The COVID-19 pandemic situation is really draining our mind and energy. However, in the spirit of cooperation and togetherness, we are optimistic that we can return to normal life. Hopefully, this assistance can be useful and we can maintain our synergy,” explained Zaenal.
Meanwhile, the Head of the LKSA Sahabat Perempuan, Putri Andhini, expressed her happiness and gratitude for this basic food assistance. “Alhamdulillah, these children came early to pick up basic food packages. We are happy to get the assistance because we have not received PKH, BPNT, and BLT assistance,” she said.
The distribution of this assistance is carried out while paying attention to the COVID-19 prevention protocol by wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and using a hand sanitizer after doing activities.
