MAKASSAR (March 2nd, 2024) – Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) through its Technical Implementation Unit of Wirajaya Center in Makassar held Life Skill Training for persons with disabilities. The training was held for two days from March 2nd to 3rd which took place in Wirajaya Center in Makassar.

Thirty participants from Makassar and Gowa Regency in South Sulawesi consisting of persons with physical and hearing disabilities participated in the training. There, they are taught barista skills and handicrafts. On the same occasion, PT. Pelindo Jaya Maritim also distributes aids for the training participants of five wheelchairs and 10 walking sticks.

The assistance was distributed symbolically by the Secretary of PT. Pelindo Jasa Maritim Tubagus Patrick Tribudi Utama Iskandar who is familiarly called by “Tubagus” to Wirajaya Center who is represented by Muh. Yusran as the acting head of the Head of General Affairs Sub-Division.

This time, Tubagus expressed his appreciation and felt proud that the company was able to cooperate with Ministry of Social Affairs to hold life skill training for persons with disabilities. Tugabus hoped that the training would produce independent entrepreneurs from persons with disabilities. Tubagus even mentioned that the training would become a place where “difablepreneur” was born. “Grow and Be Independent Together became the theme which was very relevant to encourage persons with disabilities to be a difablepreneur. The training was a form of concern from PT. Pelindo for vulnerable group,” he hoped.

Muh Yusran who represented the Head of Wirajaya Center also said similar thing. He hoped that the training could continue. Yusran also felt optimistic that nowadays, many parties are willing to participate in handling social problems happening in the society. “The presence of PT. Pelindo Jasa Maritim in distributing aids and holding life skill training for persons with disabilities become a proof of concern and also the stakeholder’s real contribution in answering the social problems happening,” Yusran confirmed.

One of the participants of the life skill training, Maria (37) who lives in Makassar claimed that she felt happy to participate in the training. She chose handicrafts class because she had sewing background. The woman who originally came from Flores, East Nusa Tenggara claimed that the knowledge of making handicrafts gained from the training would be an additional business which she could do in the future to meet her family's needs.

Not only Wirajaya Center’s staff, the staff of Gau Mabaji Centers in Manado were also involved in the committee of Life Skill Training.
