“Wirajaya” Disability Center Targets the Assistance Packages for Flood Victims in East Sumba
EAST SUMBA (April 15, 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs through the Makassar “Wirajaya” Disability Center is again targeting
and providing assistance packages to residents affected by the flash flood
disaster, especially for residents with physical disabilities in East Sumba
Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Following the direction of the Minister
of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, that the handling of flood victims does not
only assist in the form of food packages, but there must also be
the provision of Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) for disaster victims.
Especially for the
assistance packages in the form of necessities, they were directly handed
over by the team from the Makassar “Wirajaya” Disability Center, which was led
by the Head of the Administration Sub-Division, Agustine Prabandari. Besides
to basic food assistance, the team also handed over school equipment packages,
provided physiotherapy services, and LDP in the form of social guidance, as well
as provided health education services to residents experiencing flood victims.
Before distributing aid
to affected residents, the team was welcomed directly by the Head of the East
Sumba Regency Social Service, Oktavianus Tamu Ama. In his remarks and
directions, he welcomed and appreciated the arrival of the team.
The arrival of the team
certainly helped us and the residents who were victims of the flash flood
disaster. "We feel very helped by the presence of the team from the
Ministry of Social RI. We also really did not expect that we would get a lot of
assistance like this, when we needed it the most, "said Oktavianus.
Following directions and
information from the social office, the team targeted flood victims in Mau Hau
and Mauliru villages. A total of 40 food packages and 15 school equipment
packages were handed over to each resident at the location. Technically, the
distribution of aid was accompanied by the Head of the Section for Children and
the Elderly of the East Sumba Regency Social Service, Theodorus Luan, and also
assisted by the East Sumba Regency Social Worker Service Unit, Mikel Presty
Carlo Moata.
Meanwhile, for the physiotherapy
service activities, social guidance, and health education are targeted at
persons with disabilities and their families who are victims of the flood
disaster.
The recipients of the aid packages feel happy, both for their families and persons with disabilities, especially after receiving these services. This is something to be grateful for, because the presence of the Ministry of Social Affairs officers are very important for the flood victims in East Sumba,” said Murniati, a physiotherapist from the Makassar“ Wirajaya ”Disability Center.
