JAKARTA (22 June 2021) – To deal with the problem of poverty, the Ministry of Social Affairs needs to collaborate with the Regional Government, one of which is Bengkulu Province.

"We support the poverty handling by the regional government and accept the proposal of heroes nomination and the development of Human Resources in social welfare," said Social Minister Tri Rismaharini after receiving the Bengkulu Governor's audience in Jakarta, Tuesday (22/6/2021).

The Governor of Bengkulu, Rohidin Mersyah, admitted that he received a lot of enlightenment from the Social Minister regarding the poverty handling including social protection, social empowerment and human resource development in social welfare.

"A few years ago, we offered to build a Social Welfare Polytechnic (Poltekesos) in Bengkulu for the Sumatra region as an effort to increase human resources in social welfare," said Rohidin.

Along with the development of social work and the need for professional human resources for social welfare services, the presence of Poltekesos becomes important.

"Professional certification and professional human resources are needed, but of course all plans must be synchronized with the programs of Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.

In addition, social protection through the Family Hope Program (PKH), Sembako Program (BPNT), and other social assistance has been running well.

"Alhamdulillah, nationally, the distribution of PKH to the community in our Province is the fastest with a fairly good service coverage," said Rohidin.

Meanwhile, economic empowerment will be realized by training Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for home industry.

"We encourage the MSME community in every kelurahan and village with various superior products that can improve the economy of the poor," he explained.

Also present at the hearing were Member of Commission VIII DPR, Mohammad Saleh; Director General of Social Rehabilitation, and Director General of Poverty Handling.
