JAKARTA (September 17, 2019) - The Ex-Homeless and Beggars Social Rehabilitation Center (BRSEGP) "Pangudi Luhur" Bekasi provided Purpose Assistance (BanTu) to 50 ex-homeless and beggars in DKI Jakarta through the Social Welfare Institution (LKS) Bhakti Nurul Iman.
Waskito Budi Kusumo as the Director of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with Social Deviance Issues and Victims of Trafficking in Persons said that the social rehabilitation program of ex-homeless and begging partnerships was implemented through social therapy and livelihoods. "This is intended for former homeless people and beggars to improve their standard of living so that in the future they will be able to elevate their lives and will not return to being homeless and beggars," he said.
Service recipients will receive skills training in line with the line of business that will be run as well as other training such as planning, financial management, production and evaluation. This is considered comprehensive because it touches on the social aspects and livelihoods of beneficiaries. It is hoped that the beneficiaries can have a good mindset and mentality in carrying out the business that they have designed. This skills training will be managed by LKS with the assistance of one million rupiah per beneficiary.
The social assistance received can be used to open small scale businesses such as selling uduk rice, small shops and various other businesses that can be developed.
Budi added that if the business develops later, service recipients can apply for capital for business development. Submission of business development assistance can be submitted through the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with Social Deviance Issues and Victims of Trafficking in Persons.
Kokom Komalawati, as the Head of the Balai, conveyed to recipients of services to be serious in participating in the whole series of activities, so that business opening can be carried out smoothly. [As/Rh]
