BOGOR (September 16, 2019) - The Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Edi Suharto, gave directions on the Preparation of Norms, Standards, Procedures and Criteria (NSPK) / Regulations on the Social Rehabilitation of Children Conflict with Law (ABH) at Permata Hotel Bogor, West Java.

In his direction, Edi stressed the importance of the Ministry of Social Affairs to fulfill the right of assistance and social rehabilitation for ABH.

"There are many challenges we face regarding the preparation of this NSPK. But one thing that I must remind is that our position is getting stronger because we already have a Law on Social Work and Government Regulations on Advanced Social Rehabilitation," said Edi.

"We must clearly describe the duties and authorities of the local and central government in this NSPK," said Edi further. "We should not be caught up in taking care of the Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning regional government alone. We have many laws mandating children, including Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection and Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Criminal Justice System for Children (SPPA). "This is our keyword," said Edi.

"Child protection is not only the regional authority. We must be able to produce NSPK that can facilitate the implementation of our tasks, "concluded Edi. Through this activity it is expected that ABH's social rehabilitation regulations will be available in the form of the Permensos for the Implementation of ABH's Social Welfare in the context of fulfilling ABH's protection rights in accordance with the norms of standard criteria and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

This activity was attended by 28 participants from Bappenas, West Java Province Social Service, Legal Bureau, Planning Bureau, Directorate General of Social Affairs, Social and Community Empowerment and Social Welfare Center, Secretariat of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, BRSAMPK "Handayani" in Jakarta, LPKS Societa Indonesia and Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation.
