MUSI BANYUASIN (February 27th, 2024) – The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) provided various assistance to M. Ali (37), who had suffered from Cerebral Palsy since he was a child. This resident of Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, could only lay on the floor since his body could not be moved.

To carry out daily activities, Ali was assisted by his parents, Rusli (73) and Fatimah (63). “For Ali's eating and bathing needs, I take turns with my wife. Sometimes, we sit or prop Ali up so he doesn't get bored of lying down all the time," said Rusli.

Initially, Ali was born normal. However, when he was six months old, his body experienced seizures and fever. When Ali was 9 months old, this condition became more frequent. Then, Ali experienced paralysis in both legs, which made him unable to move his body. This condition also made him unable to speak until now.

Knowing about this, MoSA through "Budi Perkasa" Center in Palembang provided attention and various assistance to Ali and his family. Ali was taken to Sekayu Regional Hospital in Musi Banyuasin Regency to undergo further examination, and treatment. Based on the results of the doctor's examination, Ali was diagnosed with brain shrinkage, brain function deterioration, and motor neuron decline.

“Ali has been treated with seizure medication for the next three years. We hope the drug will be consumed routinely and regularly. Then, medical control and physiotherapy will be carried out on Ali, which is planned to be carried out periodically at Sekayu Regional Hospital," said dr. Nursaenah, Sekayu Regional Hospital’s doctor who treated Ali.

Meanwhile, after the assessment was carried out, it was not easy for Ali's family to care for Ali as economically, Ali's family was in need. Rusli, who worked as a rickshaw puller, could no longer carry out his job optimally due to his age. For this reason, "Budi Perkasa" Center in Palembang provided ATENSI assistance to Ali's family, including additional nutrition, nutrients and cleaning equipment.

Meanwhile, Fatimah received entrepreneurial capital assistance in the form of food and snack stalls. "Thank you, the support from MoSA means a lot to us," said Fatimah in a happy tone after receiving the assistance. MoSA will continue to monitor the developments of Ali's health and Fatimah's business.
