JAKARTA (September 8, 2019) - "Handayani" Child Social Rehabilitation Center that Needs Special Protection (BRSAMPK) Jakartar received a visit from the Head of the Netherlands Coordinator for Security and Counter-Terrorism (NCTV), Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, along with the NCTV delegation. The agenda of the visit this time was to see how the process of social rehabilitation for children and families exposed to radicalism that had been carried out at BRSAMPK "Handayani". When the NCTV delegation arrived at "Handayani" BRSAMPK, they were greeted by the head of rehabilitation center. Neneng Heryani and also Tor-tor dance performance performed by the Government of Social Welfare Services (PPKS). The Deputy of International Cooperation in the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Andhika Chrisnayudhanto along with the Director of Bilateral Cooperation, Director of Legal Devices, and Director of Deradicalization were also present to accompany the NCTV delegation.

The visit began with the argument by the Head of BRSAMPK "Handayani" who explained what had been done for three years to provide social rehabilitation for people exposed to radicalism. "Since 2016, we have rehabilitated 244 people exposed to radicalism. They consist of returnees, deportants, and also domestic arrests, "explained Neneng.

"Our program refers to the social work approach where there are at least more than five stages, where we strongly emphasize the importance of reintegration into society," continued Neneng.

The argument continued with discussion, where the Head of NCTV, Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, asked at least eight questions in this discussion. Pieter put more emphasis on the challenges and difficulties faced in the rehabilitation process.

Before ending the discussion session, Pieter expressed his appreciation to "Handayani" BRSAMPK for what had been done.

"This is very memorable. What you explained earlier is very interesting, especially the approach you are taking, which is the soft approach. I also see that you are involved in this program, it is important and very good, "Pieter said.

After the discussion session, the delegates visited the RPSA shelter which is a facility for people exposed to radicalism. Then the group visited the school and interacted directly with the children who were studying in class.

This visit ends in Gedung Minat dan Bakat. The group had the opportunity to see the Psychosocial Therapy Laboratory, which is an artefact from Progress 5.0. In this room, Pieter also held small discussions with children from the Surabaya incident. He also asked one by one the goals of these children.
