CIBINONG (April 5th, 2024) – The enthusiasm for learning and curiosity appeared from 46 vocational training participants at "Inten Soeweno" Integrated Center (STIS) in Cibinong, Bogor. Participants with various disabilities, on Thursday (4/4), looked enthusiastic about taking part in training according to their interests and talents for three months.

"They can choose one of the seven training courses provided," said the Head of STIS in Cibinong, M.O. Royani.

The seven trainings were sewing, graphic design, metal, computers, contact center, automotive and electrical. The seven were a part of developments. Years ago, when vocational training started in 1998, only four vocational training programs were available, those were sewing, printing (which has now turned into graphic design), metal and computers.

"This developments are adapted to the needs of the community," said Royani in explanation.

The participants came from various areas within STIS work area in Cibinong, including Bogor, Cianjur and Lampung. The participant recruitment system was carried out openly.

In the first stage, STIS in Cibinong informed the participants via social media and STIS in Cibinong’s website. Apart from that, STIS in Cibinong also wrote to and coordinated with the local Social Service.

The next stage, participants registered via the link provided by each district/city Social Service. After that, STIS in Cibinong carried out an assessment by visiting potential participants. This assessment was important to determine the interests and talents of prospective training participants according to their respective disability conditions.

The final stage, participants were called to take part in vocational training at STIS in Cibinong.

“There are no special criteria for participants who want to take part in vocational training. However, we are now prioritizing people with disabilities, whether physical disabilities, hearing disabilities, speech disabilities and so on," said Royani.

The training lasts for three months, starting from March 8th to June 7th, 2024. During the training, the participants lived at STIS in Cibinong and had all their needs met, including food and shelter. Besides, transportation costs from residence to STIS in Cibinong were also guaranteed by the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA).

Regarding trainers or instructors, all of them were professionals in their fields who had coaching certificates. There were also State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who had been re-employed to provide training, even though they had retired. Specifically, for vocational contact centers, STIS in Cibinong collaborated with the Indonesia Contact Center Association (ICCA).

Through this vocational training, participants were expected to have skills that would become valuable provisions. From a few previous training sessions, vocational graduates of STIS in Cibinong had succeeded in becoming employees of government and private agencies, as well as entrepreneurs.

As stated by Resti Aprilaini (25), a person with physical disabilities who lives in Cikarang, Karawang Regency. She took part in contact center vocational training as she wanted to work for a company.

“Honestly, I'm an introverted person. Since joining the training, I was trained and had to be proficient in speaking. This was both a challenge and an opportunity because I want to achieve success by working for the company," said her enthusiastically.

A similar thing was conveyed by Muhamad Rio (25), a blind person with low vision from Brebes. He attended vocational computer training. Rio admitted that there were visual problems in participating in the training. However, with determination and high enthusiasm, he was confident that he could overcome the various obstacles he faced in order to achieve success.

“I have a printer and mobile phone accessories business at home. Hopefully, after attending this training, my computer skills will increase so that I can be accepted to work at a company. Even if not, the business that is already running at home may continue to develop," said him full of hope.
