POLEWALI MANDAR (October 12th, 2019) - In an effort to respond to stocks cases of people with mental disorders (ODGJ) “Phala Martha" Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Mental Disabilities (BRSPDM) Sukabumi strives to become a Center for Case Response and Crisis Intervention towards people with disabilities  in community, as an implementation of Social Rehabilitation Program 5 New Platform Cluster (Progress 5.0 NP).

Case response was carried out in West Sulawesi after receiving information that the sotcks case was still quite high and had not received the proper services. Polewali Mandar and Mamuju Regencies are places where this activity was carried out on October 8-11, 2019.

The main obstacle in handling pasung cases is the limited health services in West Sulawesi which do not yet have a psychiatric hospital. Mental Health Services at the local hospital capacity is also very limited. As a result, ODGJ must be referred to Dadi Mental Hospital in Makassar.

In addition, due to the uneven understanding and handling of PDM problems in a systematic, holistic and standardized manner, socialization and education needs to be improved for families and the community. Provincial and City / Regency Social Services Agency are expected to continue to synergize with Public health Office and center, Disability Facilitator, local officials and community leaders and their networks.
