TOLIKARA (February 2, 2024) - Anticipating disasters, the Ministry of Social Affairs ensures that logistics stocks in social granaries are safe and sufficient, especially in hard-to-reach areas. One of the social granaries that was again filled with availability was at the Gidi Church of Tolikara Klasis, Papua Mountains Province.
Logistics for the social granary
were handed over directly to the Chairman of the Social Granary of the Gidi
Church Klasis Tolikara Region A. Agus Kogoya. The handover of this assistance
was also witnessed by the Acting Regent of Tolikara M. Kogoya as well as the
Head of Tolikara Regency Social Service Ibentari Pagawak.
"Hopefully there will be no disaster. But if a disaster occurs, the stock in the social granary can be used immediately according to the needs of the community," said Irvan Ardhilas Pusdalops Tagana Center Ministry of Social Affairs, Friday (2/2/2024).
Goods and logistical materials sent to the social granary at the Gidi Klasis Church consist of 100 children's clothes, 100 adult clothes, 200 blankets, 1000kg of each 50kg rice, 50 boxes of instant noodles, and other logistical materials.
This aid was brought from
Jayapura to Wamena by commercial flights which schedules are still rare. Upon
arrival in Wamena, the logistical aid was transported using a double-axle car
because of the heavy road conditions "The journey from Wamena to Tolikara
is about 7 hours," said Irvan.
The Gidi Church of Tolikara Klasis, Papua Mountain Province, was chosen to be used as a social granary because of its strategic location in the middle of the city, and close to areas that are prone to disasters every year. The location of the social granary close to disaster-prone areas will speed up the distribution of aid when there is a disaster.
Irvan mentioned that disasters
that often occur in the Tolikara region are landslides and land movement. These
disasters occur especially during the rainy season, due to the slope-shaped
topography of the region.
Irvan also said that this assistance was well received by the Gidi Church of Tolikara Klasis, Papua Mountain Province. "They sent greetings to Mrs. Social Affairs Minister Risma. Thanks for the help, during their difficulties, they can get attention from the Ministry of Social Affairs," said Irvan.
