BANDAR LAMPUNG CITY (April 24th, 2024) – Where there is a will, there is a way. This proverb is appropriate to describe the determination and willingness of Lani Yuniarti (24) to achieve success. Lani is a child of a Beneficiary Family (KPM) of the Family Hope Program (PKH) from Banjarsari Village, North Metro District, Metro City, Lampung Province.
This veiled woman was born from a humble family. His father, Ponimin, worked as a junkman with an uncertain income. He had to go in and out of the village to look for used goods and sell them to the dealer. Even though he worked from morning to evening, his income was often insufficient to meet the needs of Lani and her four siblings.
Difficult family conditions encouraged Lani's to change her fate. She did not want to continue to be squeezed by poverty. She wanted to improve her fate for the better. The way she chose was through education. She firmly believed that education could change a person's fate.
Therefore, when she graduated from high school in 2017, she wanted to continue her education at university. "But it's not easy because the tuition fees for us are not cheap," said Lani. She hesitated after looking back at her family's mediocre economic conditions.
College education, of course, requires a lot of money. On the other hand, her desire to continue studying is very strong. In the midst of this turmoil, Lani received advice to take part in Gerakan Ayo Kuliah (GAK) organized by Human Resources (SDM) PKH Lampung Province. "Finally, I joined it," said Lani, telling her experience.
In GAK, Lani received an explanation regarding the registration procedures for college entrance selection, choosing a study program, tuition fees, including the Bidikmisi Scholarship or Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) for College.
During the process of completing various requirements to get a Bidikmisi Scholarship, Lani was assisted by a PKH companion. Lani continued to pray that God will give her the opportunity to go to college.
Lani's sincere prayers and strong determination apparently showed results. Lani was accepted at University of Lampung (Unila) majoring in Agricultural Product Technology through a Bidikmisi Scholarship. Lani is the only child in the family who has received higher education. Long story short, in 2021, Lani successfully graduated and got a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.74.
After graduating, Lani enrolled in 'Lampung Teaching' Program and has been accepted as a teacher to this day. She was assigned to teach at SMK Negeri 1 Air Naningan District, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung. The good news is that currently, Lani has the status of a Government Employee with a Work Agreement (PPPK) and is just waiting for the Appointment Decree (SK).
Lani's hope of getting a decent and respectable job has now come true. As a teacher, she earns IDR 2,750,000 or more than Lampung Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in 2024 of IDR 2,716,497.
"In terms of income, I am very grateful. My income as a teacher is enough to meet my parents' needs," said Lani gratefully.
Behind Lani's successful career journey, she admitted that there was a PKH companion whose role was so important that she could not forget. "One of the people who played an important role in helping me was Mr. Eko Santoso. He is PKH assistant for Metro Utara District. He was very helpful in providing information and motivation, encouraging enthusiasm, and helping with the paperwork to get the Bidikmisi Scholarship," said Lani proudly.
Eko together with Metro City PKH Coordinator, selflessly, took Lani to and from Bandar Lampung - Metro and facilitated everything she needed. Until finally, Lani received a scholarship, received higher education and completed it with proud achievements. "Thank you, Mr. Eko and the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) for the extraordinary assistance," said Lani gratefully.
