As October 22, 2022, death victims caused of humanity tragedy at Kanjuruhan Stadium Malang increased to 134 people

MALANG  (October 22, 2022) – The eyesight of Rachman seems so sad. A sadness showed on his face. His body was still, but his mind was going beyond another thing. His head was bow indicating so many things that he wants to tell, but it only stops in his lips.

While seated beside him, his 2 grandchildren, Sinta (11) and Rama (10). They are the children of Andi Setiawan (33), his only child who became one of death victims after Kanjuruhan tragedy in Malang.

What was in his mind of the 62-year-old man, finally can be revealed when Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, today (22/10), met and invited him to talk.

"What can I help you with? Are you desperate for what? (What do you want?) To increase your income, what do you need? It's okay, sir, just tell me," said Social Minister Risma asking this older man.

It took a while, before he finally wanted to speak up and convey his wish. "I want a scale, to weigh my scraps. I want that," he said hoarsely.

Rachman is the father of Andi Setiawan, Aremania -- a name for fans of the Arema football club from Mergosono, Malang. Rachman works as a scavenger. He lost his son, after being treated for more than two weeks at the Al-Anwar Hospital (RSSA) Malang after the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

Andi Setiawan received intensive care because he was in critical condition and in a coma. He left two elementary school-aged (SD) children, who now live and are being cared by Rachman and his wife in a hut on the banks of the Berantas River.

After knowing Rachman’s wishes, the Minister of Social Affairs immediately agreed. She directly asked her staff to collect the data of Rachman in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) so that they can be registered in Social Rehabilitation Assistance program (ATENSI) for the category of assistance to Orphans (YAPI).

"Immediately enter his name in the DTKS so that the assistance can be distributed by the end of December," Risma asked her staff.

Besides, Social Minister Risma also plans to provide housing assistance to Rachman after hearing complaints about his narrow house on the banks of the Berantas River in Mergosono Village, Kedungkandang District, Malang Regency.

This visit is Risma’s third visit in a month, after previously, in a row, Social Affairs Minister has also met and handed over direct compensation to each victim and their families.

Minister of Social Affairs said that until now, compensation for the 134 heirs of the victims who died had been distributed. "Last week, there were a total of 131, plus this 3, so 134 died," she said in front of the media crew, Saturday (22/10).

However, she continued, the number of victims who suffered minor injuries and serious injuries was also quite a lot because she continued to follow the development of the number of victims.

For this reason, Social Affairs Minister Risma always pray for the victims to be recovered. "For those who are sick, hopefully, this can help ease your speedy recovery, ladies and gentlemen," said the former Mayor of Surabaya for two periods.

During her visit to Malang Regency, Saturday (22/10), Social Affairs Minister Risma handed over 3 compensations to the heirs of the victims, such as for death victims Rp 15 million, serious injured victims Rp 5 million, and minor injured victims Rp2,5 million, along with the package of basic for for each victims.

This compensation was given by the Ministry of Social Affairs to the victims and their families following the Humanitarian Tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang after the Liga I match between Arema FC and Persebaya in last October.
