NORTH LABUHANBATU DISTRICT (February 12,2020) - The Indonesian
Ministry of Social Affairs handed over compensation to five heirs of victims
who died from the flash flood disaster in the Pematang Village area, NA IX-X
District, North Labuhanbatu Regency (Labura), North Sumatra which occurred at
the end of 2019 then.
Deputy Chairman
of Commission VIII DPR RI, Marwan Dasopang was present at the handover of the
compensation. In his remarks, he hoped that the recovery process for victims
and disaster locations could be completed as soon as possible.
"Me and my
friends at the DPR RI really appreciate the quick steps of the Ministry of
Social Affairs which immediately went to the location during the emergency
response period. I hope that the victims of the disaster can be recovered as
soon as possible, of course, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Social
Affairs with the North Sumatra Provincial Government, the North Sumatra Social
Service and Labura as well as other related agencies ", he said.
At the event
that was held in Pematang Village, NA IX-X District, North Labuhanbatu Regency
(Labura), North Sumatra, was also attended by the senior advisor to the
minister of social affairs on social change and dynamics, Asep Sasa Purnama, on
duty Head of the North Labuhanbatu Regency Social Service, Jon Veri and Deputy
Chairman of the Labura DPRD, Supriyanto Pasaribu.
In his report, Senior
Advisor to The Minister of Social Affairs on Social Change and Dynamics, Asep
Sasa Purnama, explains in detail the various efforts that have been made by the
Ministry of Social Affairs after the occurrence of flash floods in Labura.
"We inform
you that previously we had deployed 31 members of the Disaster Preparedness
Cadets (Tagana) team, one day after the flash flood, to provide public kitchen
services for 14 days, as well as lowering emergency response logistics
assistance worth IDR. 86 million which we submitted
directly to the North Labuhanbatu Social Service", said Asep.
Then, he
continued, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed grief compensation to
five heirs of disaster victims who died, each of IDR. 15 million, so that the
total donation distributed is IDR. 75 million.
In addition, the
Ministry of Social Affairs also handed over basic food packages to the victims
affected by the flash floods and held a prayer together.
"We also
distributed food packages to 30 heads of families affected by the flash flood
disaster worth IDR. 3 million so that the total aid that had been delivered was
approximately IDR. 164 million ", he said.
Asep said that
the logistical assistance that had been submitted for emergency response needs
included instant noodles, side dishes, foodware, family kitchen utensils,
mattresses, children's food, clothing, roll tents, family kits, kids ware, and
some ready-to-eat food.
As informed, the
flash flood disaster hit the Pematang Village area, NA IX-X District, North
Labuhanbatu Regency, on Sunday (29/12/2019) in the morning. As a result of the
flash floods, 39 houses were damaged and five
people were declared dead.
