SUBANG (February 14, 2021) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin visited flood-affected locations in Pamanukan District, Subang, West Java. Responding to the annual Subang flood, the Vice President firmly instructs all parties to prevent flooding so that it doesn't happen again.

"The impact of this flood is not only felt by the residents of Subang, but also users of the Java North Coast (Pantura) road whose access is also hampered due to the flood. If it keeps repeating itself, it means that we are not smart (learn from experience),” said Ma'ruf Amin at the Main Post for Flood Management in Pamanukan, Subang, Saturday (13/2).

The Vice President emphasized that disaster management cannot be done by the government alone.

"The government cannot handle it alone. Therefore, non-governmental organizations, as well as the private sector, are also expected to contribute, which collaboratively will greatly determine the success of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction," said the former chairman of the MUI for the 2015-2020 period.

Therefore, he continued, to be able to end these disasters requires efforts and hard work from all lines. The community, said Ma'ruf, also needs to be reminded to continue to protect nature and prevent damage in order to avoid disasters.

"Thus, at least, we can minimize so that there are not many victims," ​​he continued.

His visit to Pamanukan Sub-district, which was also attended by the Deputy Governor of West Java, Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, and welcomed by the Subang Regent, Ruhimat, was to symbolically hand over aid to representatives of the Subang flood victims.

Special assistance given by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the form of 1,500 food packages consisting of rice, oil, tea, sugar, and masks. Meanwhile, assistance from National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) consists of 300,000 masks, 10,000 rapid antigen test kits, 5,000 gloves and 1,000 mattresses. In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed 1,900 meals, 5 generator units, 300 blankets, 300 mattresses, 200 mattresses, up to 200 packages of cleaning equipment.

The Role of Tagana in Handling the Subang Flood


Since the first day of flooding inundated most areas in Subang Regency and the Emergency Response Decree issued by the Subang Regency Government on Monday (8/2), Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana) personnel swiftly set up public kitchens (dumlap) to serve the food needs of flood-affected residents.

The Head of the Tagana Coordination Forum (FK) of Subang Regency, as well as the person in charge of Dumlap, Jajang Abdul Muhaimin, said Dumlap were able to provide 10,000 to 15,000 portions of food for one meal from 4 Dumlap (Ministry of Social Affairs, BNPB, Transport Supplies Battalion (Bekang) and Mobile Brigade Corps).

"We can fulfill the portion of 15 thousand per meal. So, per day, if you eat 2x, you can get 30,000 portions of food from 4 dumlap," explained Jajang.

In addition to preparing food through dumlap, Jajang admitted that Tagana played a role in handling the Subang flood through other social protection clusters, such as Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) and evacuation of victims.

“Residents can see how the performance, dedication of Tagana. They (Tagana) no longer see the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP). At any time, even in the early hours of the morning, they are ready to go to the field, evacuate residents who may still be trapped by the flood,” he said.

As reported, floods in Subang Regency on Monday (8/2) submerged at least 21 sub-districts which caused 34,000 residents to evacuate. Until Saturday afternoon (13/2), the flood had receded at several points, so the evacuees decided to return to their homes in stages to clean up the remaining puddles and mud in their homes. As many as 100 Tagana personnel have been deployed to assist dumlap, the evacuation process and the cleaning of residents' houses.

Meanwhile, according to the Emergency Response Decree of the Subang Regency Government, Dumlap will still serve evacuees for the next 14 days starting from operating on Monday (8/2). However, if the residents still need Dumlap, Tagana is ready to extend the Dumlap service period.
