MALANG (January 31, 2023) - Commission VIII DPR RI supports the Ministry of Social Affairs for its various policies in handling disasters. People's representatives assessed that the Ministry of Social Affairs had made numerous breakthroughs in disaster management.
Among these policies are the social granaries and disaster preparedness villages (KSB) in several disaster-prone areas. "The Ministry of Social Affairs' policies have met the needs and challenges in the regions. However (because the intensity of the disaster is quite high) the Ministry of Social Affairs' budget of IDR78 trillion (feels) insufficient. So there is a need for synergy with regional governments," said Deputy Chair of Commission VIII Laksdya (Pur) Moekhlas Sidik in Malang Mayor's Office, on Monday (30/1).
The Commission VIII delegation led by Laksdya (Ret.) Moekhlas Sidik made a specific working visit to Malang City. Other DPR RI members who attended were Matindas J. Rumambi, Mohammad Saleh, Wastam, Hidayat Nur Wahid, and Nur Azizah Tamhid. The presence of DPR RI members was welcomed by the Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji, and his staff.
Present to accompany the Acting Director General of Social Protection and Security Robben Ricco, officials from the National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) both centrally, from East Java and Greater Malang, and related officials.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also built KSB as a form of disaster preparedness. "KSB is a community-based disaster management forum which is used as an area/venue for disaster management programs," said Robben.
Through KSB, various efforts are made through physical development and awareness and increasing capacity (training) to face disaster threats.
