JAKARTA (June 19, 2020) - Following up on the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs to accelerate the distribution of presidential food social assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Directorate General of Social Empowerment responded quickly by involving various elements of society to browse and reach the target groups of beneficiaries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially those who had never received assistance.

In this case, the Directorate General of Social Empowerment in collaboration with the Anshor Youth Movement distributes social assistance for residents affected by COVID-19. The Director General of Social Empowerment, Edi Suharto, symbolically handed over the social assistance to GP Anshor which was received by the Deputy General Chairperson of GP Anshor Moh. Haerul Amri at the PP Anshor GP Office, Central Jakarta.

“This is a form of our close cooperation with GP Anshor. The Ministry of Social Affairs, through GP Anshor, distributed social assistance for the President's basic necessities, including to teachers of the Koran, security officers. We will be able to handle the heavy burden of COVID-19 together," explained Edi Suharto.

A total of 10,176 social assistance packages for the President's basic necessities are intended for residents whose economy has been affected by COVID-19. Starting from the Koran teacher in the villages, the online motorcycle taxi community, the art worker community, security officers, and other odd jobs in the Jabodetabek, Karawang, and South Tangerang areas.

"We thank the Ministry of Social Affairs for entrusting GP Anshor to help distribute social assistance. This is the second term that we have received, and we will immediately distribute it to recipients who need it according to the right criteria," added Deputy General Chairperson GP Anshor.

One of the recipients of social assistance, Mrs. Yanti, who sells rice every day, said that COVID-19 had a huge impact on her. The reason is, in times like this, she feels that not many people buy the rice and no more capital to sell more rice.

The existence of the COVID-19 pandemic has indeed had a tremendous impact on the community's economy, especially for residents who do not have jobs with fixed salaries.

Mrs. Rohati, a laundry worker, was very relieved to receive this assistance.

“I am very grateful to the government for paying attention to us. This assistance is very meaningful to me, and I am very relieved to receive this assistance, it really lightens the burden on my family,” said Mrs. Rohati.

Also attending the event were the Deputy Secretary General of the GP Anshor Executive Board, the Central Executive GP Anshor, and the Head of the General Section of the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Social Empowerment.
