MAJENE (January 20, 2022) - The existence of a red and white multipurpose tent belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs, which has been installed since Saturday (15/1) and can be occupied on Wednesday night (19/1), has elicited various responses from the residents of Aholeang Hamlet. A number of residents who began to occupy the tent from the Ministry of Social Affairs, revealed that they felt much calmer and more comfortable after moving from the old tent.

Their willingness to move out is motivated by the worries that often haunt them. While in the evacuee  camps, a number of residents said that they have never felt the pleasure of sleeping well because they are scared of falling coconut trees in strong winds.

As a sustainability measure, the Ministry of Social Affairs will continue to provide assistance to residents. This is proof that the state is present for every disaster survivor, in this case, survivors after the 2021 West Sulawesi earthquake. Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs will again distribute small-scale family-based tents and portable toilets to support the fulfillment of the basic needs of affected residents.
