BLBI "Abiyoso" Visits the Braille Literacy Management Institute
KUALA LUMPUR (December 24th 2019) - Head of the Indonesian Braille Literacy Center (BLBI) "Abiyoso" in Cimahi, Isep Sepriyan leads the Cimahi "Abiyoso" BLBI Team at the invitation of the Chairperson of the Malaysian Blind Foundation (YOBM) / Malaysian Foundation The Blind (MFB), Silatul Rahim Bin Dahman to visit the foundation he leads and several institutions that manage braille literacy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on December 24th to 27th 2019.
According to Isep, this visit was intended to broaden the knowledge of the Center of Structural Officers and Planners in managing braille literacy professionally.
Apart from visiting MFB, the BLBI "Abiyoso" Team also visited the Malaysian Blind Development Association (PPM), the Malaysian Islamic Vision Disabilities Association (PERTIS), the Malaysian State Library, and Kuala Lumpur Braille Resources (KLBR).
In every visit to these institutions, Isep received by the chairmen and administrators of the institute explained the profile of the BLBI "Abiyoso" and conveyed the aims and objectives of the visit, among others, in order to establish friendship as fellow braille literacy management agencies for persons with visual sensory disabilities (PDSN).
The chairmen of the institution briefly explained the organization and business processes carried out by each institution and invited them to witness the braille literacy production process carried out by a non-governmental organization chaired by PDSN. They also expressed their desire to make a return visit to the BLBI "Abiyoso" to increase friendship and cooperation in the process of managing braille literacy.
The BLBI "Abiyoso" team also visited the Malaysian State Library, especially the braille literacy service unit available in the library. Braille literacy in the Malaysian State Library is the product of non-governmental organizations in Malaysia.
The values obtained by BLBI "Abiyoso" during visits to braille literacy management institutions in Malaysia are; persistence and consistency of institutional administrators in trying to provide braille literacy and empowerment of the PDSN as well as the support of the government and society in receiving the products made by PDSN.
