MEDAN (March 5th 2020) - The “Bahagia” Social Rehabilitation Center for People With HIV (BRSODH) in Medan carried out socialization and mitigation activities by providing education about Reproductive Health through Educational Institutions at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. This activity is very useful for students as the younger generation so that they can understand and fortify themselves against technological advances which are currently more easily accessible from various media tools. This activity took place in the classroom at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan and was attended by 50 (fifty) students and some teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan.

The head of BRSODH “Bahagia” in Medan, represented by the Head of Social Advocacy, Ms. Sinarta conveyed about the transformation of advanced social rehabilitation programs based on PROGRES 5.0 NP (New Passion, New Platform), profiles of BRSODH “Bahagia” in Medan, work programs and types of rehabilitation services through the Time Bound Shelter as well as through case responses, as well as PM admission procedures to get social rehabilitation services. Providing information on reproductive health is also a form of social rehabilitation service, namely social care. Social care in this case ensures that the prevention function of HIV problems can be realized among students.

dr. Titin Wahyuni as a health practitioner who is assigned to the Padang Bulan Health Center also provided information by delivering material about adolescent reproductive health. This is important, considering that today's teenagers are very worrying and dare to do negative things that are contrary to religious norms. According to data submitted by dr. Titin said that North Sumatra Province is one of the areas with quite a lot of people infected with HIV.

One of the causes is the result of promiscuity, having sex before marriage, using drug needles and using crystal methamphetamine which ultimately leads to casual sex, blood transfusions infected with HIV, and transmission from HIV-infected mothers to babies during pregnancy and breastfeeding. For this reason, hopefully that with this socialization, students are more alert, can take care of themselves and are not easily influenced by seduction or persuasion in the form of money which can plunge someone into negative things.

The students and some teachers were very enthusiastic about listening to the explanation of the material presented by the two speakers. Participants asked a lot about the reproductive health of both women and men which is associated with HIV. With this socialization, hopefully that students will be able to protect themselves and be able to provide information and education to the family environment so that HIV transmission can be prevented indirectly. The school principal and teachers expressed their gratitude to BROSDH “Bahagia” in Medan for carrying out this outreach activity. Hopefully students can take lessons from this activity.

Providing reproductive health information is one of BRSODH's work programs in realizing the 2020 Ministry of Social Affairs resolution, namely "KEMENSOS HADIR", where BRSODH  present in the community, especially students, to provide information about HIV. This socialization activity will not only be held at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, but will later be held at a different school. On Friday March 6th, 2020 it will be held at SMK Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, and then on Wednesday, March 11st, 2020 it will be held at SMA Negeri 11 Medan City as well as among students at the University of North Sumatra Campus.
