BRSPDF "Wirajaya" Designing Electric Wheelchairs
MAKASSAR (February 25th 2020) - The “Wirajaya” Makassar Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Physical Disabilities (BRSPDF) is designing an electric wheelchair. The manufacturing process was designed directly by persons with disabilities, Service Recipients (PP) in the center and accompanied by instructors for automotive and electronic skills, BRSPDF "Wirajaya".
Later, the electric wheelchair will be used by PP’s who have physical limitations on their legs. Technically, the Head of BRSPDF "Wirajaya" Makassar Syaiful Samad explained that the wheelchair design uses a rechargeable electric dynamo with a front wheel assisted design and can be gassed like a motorcycle.
"The chair was tested a few days ago, we are trying to finish it this year and immediately be used by the PP in the hall," said Syaiful.
Apart from designing electric wheelchairs, for the 2020 fiscal year, BRSPDF "Wirajaya" also has several excellent programs, one of which is a partnership-based self-reliance training program.
This program is a form of Out-of-Office Social Rehabilitation services, which will later involve persons with disabilities and will be partnered with several stakeholders, including partnering with the Regency / City Social Services Agency, as well as collaborating with MSME actors. "Persons with disabilities will be trained to make handicrafts such as souvenirs that have a selling value in the market today and the materials are taken from materials that can be recycled," said Syaiful.
