BRSPDSRW "Melati" Jakarta Holds a PAK RW
JAKARTA (December 4th 2019) - The Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Hearing and Speech Sensory Disabilities (BRSPDSRW) "Melati" Jakarta held a Mobile Audiometer Service and Counseling for People with Hearing and Speech Disabilities (PAK RW). Taking place at RPTRA Tunas Teratai Cipayung, East Jakarta, the PAK RW activity was attended by 60 participants consisting of 20 persons with hearing sensory disabilities, 20 parents / guardians with disabilities and 20 representatives of Balai stakeholders, including from Cipayung District, East Jakarta, Lurah Cipayung, Kapolsek Cipayung and representatives from the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Affairs RI.
In his speech, the Head of BRSPDSRW "Melati" Jakarta, Pujiyanto said that the PAK RW activity had been carried out for the third time. "PAK RW is a service center program that provides counseling and examination of a person's hearing threshold and the type of hearing loss using an audiogram," Pujiyanto continued.
Through this activity, hopefully that the community, especially families with Hearing and Speech Disabilities, have a good understanding in the nursing and caring for persons with Hearing and Speech sensory disabilities.
For this PAK RW activity, the center presented two resource persons from the National Commission for Deafness and Hearing Loss (PGPKT), Dr. Damayanti and Dr. Susilawati. In their presentation, the two speakers conveyed information about the symptoms of hearing loss and how to treat ear health. Hearing loss is not only a problem faced by people with Hearing sensory disabilities. This should be a concern because we often neglect to anticipate health problems, including hearing loss.
