LUMAJANG (December 10, 2021) - Chairman of he Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission VIII, Yandri Susanto, and Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI, Ace Hasan Syadzily, with a group of members of DPR RI Commission VIII, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Religion and the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas), went directly to the temporary evacuee camps.

During the review visit, Commission VIII of DPR RI together with partners, handed over assistance worth IDR 1 billion and IDR 200 million from the Ministry of Social Affairs for the needs of the evacuees.

The DPR asked the victims of the eruption (evacuees) of Mount Semeru to be relocated to a safer place. "Based on the results of the review that we carried out in this evacuee camp, the thing that needs to be followed up immediately in the medium term is to immediately relocate," said Ace.

Since the eruption of Mount Semeru on Saturday (4/12), thousands of people have reportedly fled to temporary shelters. According to a report from the official website of the National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), the number of evacuees was recorded at 3,697 people.
