BOGOR (June 30, 2020) - Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives accompanied by the Directorate General of Poverty Handling (PFM) of the Ministry of Social Affairs made a working visit to the city of Bogor, Monday (30/06/2020). During the visit, the Commission VIII entourage was led by, Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI, Moekhlas Sidik. Meanwhile, the group of Director General of PFM was led by Secretary General of PFM, Nurul Farijati.

The visit explored the extent of the mechanism for data collection, distribution, and transparency of Cash Social Assistance (BST). In his statement, the council member stated that the social assistance was distributed to help the community from social shocks caused by COVID-19. "With this social assistance, it is hoped that they can live a decent life," said the Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya explained, social assistance really helps residents affected by COVID-19. He admitted that there were a number of problems in the field, one of which was related to the number of social assistance recipients, criteria and categories. "The number submitted from the sub-district level is more than the quota determined by the central government," said the Mayor of Bogor.

The Secretary General of PFM appreciates the steps that have been taken by the Bogor regional government which always verifies and validates the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS). He hopes that other regions will take steps like Bogor.

Cash assistance is given to people affected by COVID-19, but have never been registered as recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH) and the Basic Food Program, formerly known as Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT).

BST is given to 9 million beneficiary families (KPM) in the amount of Rp600.000 per month per Family Beneficiaries (KPM) from April-June 2020. The assistance will also be extended until December but with a nominal value of Rp300.000 per month per KPM.
