Educational Research and Social Counseling Agency Will Develop Training Module for Handling Stunting

JAKARTA (September 9th 2020) – Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) of Republic Indonesia Juliari P Batubara said that two social safety programs owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs  (Kemensos) Non-cash Food Assistance (BPNT) and the Family Hope Program could prevent and deal stunting in Indonesia.

“We have these two big programs, because their wide cover of participants, millions of families  and already went well and systematic, these programs can be integrated into stunting handling.” Said the Minister of Social Affairs at the Meeting for the Feasibility of Rice for Stunting Handling which held virtually. Tuesday, 8/9/2020.

The Minister of Social Affairs said the two programs also offered to Tanoto Foundation as one of the Ministry of Social Affairs partners in the future in overcoming stunting problem.

Previously, the Ministry of Social Affairs had made an MoU with the Tanoto Foundation through the Educational Research and Social Extension Agency (BP3S) in development of Human Resources (HR) for the handling of stunting in this country.

According the Minister of Social Affairs, the task of BP3S in this case in develop an education and training module (Diklat) for Family Capacity Building Meetings (P2K2)  PKH to include stunting material in the module.

The Minister of Social Affairs further added in the development of these modules, they are not simply put together, they must go through research.

“In refinement the training module for stunting handling, I hope that research and studies must go through,” explain the Minister of Social Affairs.

Meanwhile at the same time, the Head of BP3S, Syahabuddin said with the provisions of PKH human resources, stunting alleviation efforts could be maximized.

“There will be training and modules that will be carried out together with the Tanoto Foundation to handle this stunting, sir,” said Syahabuddin .

The Head of BP3S also submitted his report in this activity he invited the Ministry of Health, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency and from Logistic Affairs Agency to discuss in terms of food ingredients, especially carbohydrates (rice) in terms to handling stunting.

“We will discuss together  according to instructions of the Minister, in deal stunting, especially in terms of food ingredients, in this case race, of course the next step will be research,” his concluded.
