JAKARTA (March 16th 2020) - Today, child development accompanied by social and technological developments raises various problems for children. In accordance with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs is collaborating with the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) and the Central Child Protection Agency (LPA Pusat) to build strategic cooperation in handling child problems.


The Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Harry Hikmat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with LPAI and Central LPA at the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs Office on Monday (16/3/20). This Memorandum of Understanding concerns the Program for Prevention, Early Detection and Handling of Cases of Children in Need of Special Protection (AMPK).


This Memorandum of Understanding aims to optimize resources, policies and programs in providing social protection and assistance for children who need special protection (AMPK).


On this occasion, the Director General of Social Rehabilitation said that the Ministry of Social Affairs was the home for the Indonesian child protection movement. However, extra efforts are needed to hold back the pace of children's problems. "In the future, we need many roles to close ranks in increasing child protection efforts. So based on the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, we need to build cooperation with LPAI and the Central LPA," said the Director General of Social Rehabilitation.


Arist Merdeka Sirait, Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection, also known as the Central LPA, also welcomed this cooperation. "This is one of the ways we put together steps together hand in hand to provide the best for Indonesian children who are currently in an emergency situation," concluded the Chairman of the National Committee for PA.


Seto Mulyadi, Head of LPAI also added that the community must take part in this effort. "The role of the community is also important to participate in the efforts of the national movement for child protection. This is the intimacy that will always be established between the community and the Ministry of Social Affairs," said the Head of LPAI.


The scope of this agreement is to maintain, improve, and develop joint duties and responsibilities in terms of child protection, disseminate various child protection policies and programs, respond quickly to cases of violations of children's rights through complaint services, handling and assisting children who need special protection, social rehabilitation and referral of safe house services for AMPK to legal process assistance for children who are dealing with the law and children with special needs.


In this agenda, there were also the Secretary General of LPAI, Heni Hermanoe, Secretary General of the Central LPA, Dhanang Sasongko, Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, Idit Supriadi Priatna, Director of Social Rehabilitation for Child, Kanya Eka Santi, Director of Social Rehabilitation for the Elderly, Andi Hanindito and Director of Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Eva Kasim and several employees of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation.
