Hundreds of Person with Disability Celebrate International Disability Day

MAKASSAR (December 8th 2019) - Hundreds of Persons with Disabilities participated in the implementation of International Disability Day, where for 2019 the implementation of HDI was centered at the location of Car Free Day (CFD) Jl.Boulevar Makassar, Sunday (8/12/2019). The Center for Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Physical Disabilities (BRSPDF) "Wirajaya" in Makassar together with several Social Organizations (Orsos) and several Disabled Persons Organizations as implementers of HDI activities deliberately held activities that were placed outside the Balai and involved Social Organizations and Organizations for Persons with Disabilities throughout Makassar City.

Unlike the previous year, HDI activities were usually centered in Balai, but this year the HDI commemoration was held outside the Balai and involved many parties. "This year's HDI is being carried out outside the hall so that the message of inclusion can be conveyed to the public," said Syaiful Samad as the Head of RSPDF "Wirajaya".

In fact, Syaiful also explained clearly related to a series of activities in order to enliven the HDI commemoration, where the committee prepared several activities. One of them was a leisurely walk that was followed by all participants, both from social organizations and from organizations of persons with disabilities. There is also an oration stage for representatives of each participant who convey social messages to promote equality, accessibility and social function for people with disabilities as well as music art offerings from people with disabilities.

Technically, HDI activities are carried out by involving a joint committee of all involved participants. The participants involved in this joint committee, including the Indonesian Difabel Movement for Equality (Perdik) of South Sulawesi, the Student Movement for Equality (Uproar), Social Walfare Service Recipients (PPKS), the Independent Leprosy Association (Permata), the Indonesian Deaf Welfare Movement (Gerkatin), Difabel Community Gowa, Save the Children, UNICEF, South Sulawesi National Education, South Sulawesi Association of People with Disabilities (PPDI), the Association of Indonesian Women with Disabilities (HWDI) South Sulawesi, PT UTS, PT UIN, Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), Legal Aid Institutions (LBH), and several other participants, such as from Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM), Bank Permata, Hotel Claro, Hotel Swiss Bell, and Alfamart.
