Ministry of Social Affairs Asks Families to Take Care of Elderly and Children
DENPASAR (November 8, 2022) - Building family awareness in assistance and
services to elderly and children is one of the goals of family capacity
strengthening activities carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs through Mahatmiya
Center Bali at the Smart House, Denpasar City.
In addition, another goal is to encourage efforts
to fulfill and protect the rights of elderly and children and to build an
inclusive role of the family and society so that they can work positively.
The event began with remarks by the Head of Mahatmiya
Center Bali, Sri Wibowo. He invites the participation of families in assisting elderly
and children. "We have to think positively. Don't see their helplessness
as a burden", he said.
In this activity, the Ministry of Social Affairs
also distributed staple food assistance worth IDR 2 million for 36 people,
assistance with entrepreneurship development tools for two people and tricycle
assistance for one person with a disability.
Assistance for 39 social welfare service recipients
with a value of IDR 88,234,500 were handed over by Sri Wibowo and symbolically

The assistance provided by the Social
Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program has gone through a comprehensive
assessment by social workers and a team from Mahatmiya Center Bali.
Meanwhile, Associate Social Worker, Ni Putu Esti as
the Coordinator of the Family and Community-Based Working Group added, for the
entrepreneurial assistance given to two families with disabilities who work as
fried food sellers and sellers of Nasi Jinggo. The assistance provided was in
the form of sales teams, stoves, pans, blenders and other equipment.
While the assistance of a tricycle for one person
with a disability has been based on a doctor's recommendation.
Furthermore, he said the ATENSI program was based
on three approaches namely the family, family-based and community-based approach.
"We hope that this assistance can help the
welfare of families, especially when their parents are more used to caring for
their children with disabilities," he concluded.

a psychologist, Retno IG Kusuma, who provided capacity building for families to
realize the independence of persons with disabilities.
