KENDARI (April 1st 2020) - The elderly are among those who are vulnerable to the Spread of COVID-19, therefore the Ministry of Social Affairs instructs to immediately accelerate the Realization of Social Assistance for the LU PROGRESS. As an effort and initial step towards accelerating this, LRSLU "Minaula" Kendari as one of the UPT of the Ministry of Social Affairs implemented Bimtek PROGRES LU in 8 outreach areas involving 62 Elderly Social Welfare Institutions (LKSLU).
The activity was attended by LRSLU "Minaula" Kendari, Provincial / District / City Social Services Agency, LKSLU, Elderly Professionals, and LKSLU Facilitators in each region. Activities carried out using the Zoom Application to explain in detail and technically related to the components in PROGRES LU (aiming assistance, family support, social care, and therapy).
This activity is to ensure the readiness of the LKSLU in implementing the LU PROGRESS considering that the elderly are vulnerable to COVID-19, this guidance does not reduce the substance that is in the LU PROGRES and hopefully that this will be the first step for LKSLU in implementing this program.
"In addition to the future, we will also continue to hold online thematic guidance and technology related to social care and therapy techniques, as well as family support to all LKSLU Managers and Assistants in order to increase capacity and capability and improve service quality," said Syamsuddin, the Head of LRSLU "Minaula" Kendari.
"This activity is very important to carry out, considering that online technical guidance is the only way we can do with the current conditions, we as from the Maluku Provincial Social Services Agency are ready to support and help fully supervise the implementation of the LU PROGRESS in Maluku Province in 2020" Edwin concluded. He is the Head of Children and Elderly Section of the Maluku Province Social Services Agency.
