KENDARI (February 25th 2020) - The involvement of all elements in social development is absolutely necessary, because it is the main capital in achieving the fulfillment of social welfare. Following up on the case of Grandpa La Nggugu, an elderly who lived in an unsuitable hut some time ago, the LRSLU team "Minaula" Kendari participated in the construction of a new house for the elderly.

Jasman, the functional coordinator of LRSLU, Minaula Kendari, who was met at the location, said that social problems can be resolved more quickly if there is synergy of all parties. For example, today a house for the elderly will be built with the participation of various parties and all of them have shared roles. Apart from providing cash assistance, LRSLU "Minaula" Kendari also provides reinforcement to the elderly, neighbors and the surrounding community.

"We also involve Social Welfare Institutions (LKS) in Kendari City. Later they will escort the elderly to enter the DTKS base so they can access sustainable social assistance, such as the Elderly Social Rehabilitation Program (PROGRES-LU)," he added.

Head of LRSLU "Minaula" Kendari, Syamsuddin Ph.D, added that through his social workers, he would continue to provide social assistance to Grandpa La Nggugu so that the grandfather could carry out his social functions properly. By implementing case management, all potentials and resources will be mobilized to help them, including LKS-LU, neighbors, relatives, families, and the local government. Because the problems of the elderly are the responsibility of all of us."

The event was attended by the Mayor of Kendari, the Police, TNI, LKS-LU, TKSK and volunteers. After the rally and direction, the construction of a new residence was carried out by members of the Indonesian National Police, assisted by the local community.

La Nggugu's grandfather said he was happy to be in his new home soon. In this activity, LRSLU "Minaula" Kendari also strengthened neighbors and the surrounding community. Some residents actually know that there are elderly people living in the hut, but this is considered normal. This is where it is important to foster a sense of concern for the surrounding environment, especially for the elderly, so that social problems can be anticipated in order to create social welfare in the community.
