YOGYAKARTA (30 December 2021) - Following up on the instructions of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini regarding the Rumah Indonesia Berbicara (Indonesian Talking House) program in all technical implementing units belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Yogyakarta Center for Social Welfare Education and Training (BBPPKS) held an activity of TECHNICAL GUIDANCE OF BRAILLE LITERATURE AND COMPUTER SPEAKING from December 28 to 30, 2021 at the BBPPKS Yogyakarta Campus 1 building.

At the peak of the National Social Solidarity Day on December 20, 2021, Risma ordered the Indonesian Braille Literacy Center (BLBI) "Abiyoso", as an institution that has been dealing with braille literacy for decades, to be actively involved in providing training to all UPT Ministry of Social Affairs on braille and talking computer.

Based on this directive, BBPPKS immediately took the initiative to invite BLBI “Abiyoso” to assist in the implementation of technical guidance on braille literacy and computer speech. The inaugural technical guidance activity within the framework of the Rumah Indonesia Bicara program was attended by 35 participants from various agencies, including Yogyakarta Social Office, Gunung Kidul District Social Office, Sleman District Social Office, Bantul District Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office, Kulon Progo District Women Empowerment and Child Protection Office, and the host of BBPPKS Yogyakarta.

In his remarks, the Head of BLBI “Abiyoso”, Isep Sepriyan, praised BBPPKS' quick movement in realizing the Indonesian Talking House. "BBPPKS Yogyakarta is the 'Gercep' (Quick) team in responding to orders to make this program and be a pioneer."

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the Education and Training Organizing Division representing the Head of BBPPKS Yogyakarta, Pristi Yudawati, expressed her gratitude to the BLBI Abiyoso Team for being willing to share knowledge and understanding about Braille and computer speech. "People with disabilities also have the right to get knowledge and information like other citizens," she said.

To support this activity, BLBI “Abiyoso” brought ten instructors. They are divided into Orientation and Mobility instructors, Braille literacy (batubra) instructors, and computer speech instructors. Batubra's technical guidance is further divided into two categories, namely Latin and Arabic Braille.

All participants were very enthusiastic about the introduction of the Mobility Orientation because the participants with new eyesight knew that there were special tricks to accompany people with visual sensory disabilities. Not only that, but they are also quick to understand what all the instructors teach.

One of the participants from the disability assistance group, Orin, expressed his impressions. “It was quite fun because we practiced a lot, starting from writing braille and operating a computer to speech and mobility orientation training because we had never attended training like this before.”

In line with Orin, Dadi Tri Handayani (PDSN) expressed her gratitude and hopes regarding this literacy training. “Thank you BLBI Abiyoso because this training adds insight for me. Even the assistants with disabilities were also trained so that they could accompany us, the people with disabilities be more accessible when accompanying us, this training is very useful for me as a person with a disability and also for companions. I hope this training can be carried out comprehensively not only in Yogyakarta but also throughout Indonesia.”
