JAKARTA (April 15, 2021) - The Director General of Social Protection and Security, Pepen Nazaruddin, accompanied by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Security, Robben Rico and the Director of Social Protection for Victims of Social Disaster (PSKBS), Sunarti, chaired the Discussion Meeting on Follow-Up Steps for Handling Ex-East Timor in the Ministry of Social Affairs Meeting Room, Thursday (15/4).

In a meeting involving a number of related ministries/agencies, namely the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, and related officials within the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Director General said that in principle, the government had completed the obligation to pay compensation for former East Timor.

This is in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 25 of 2016 which states that compensation is the last compensation that is final, given 1 time, and there are no more demands to the government, which is a joint agreement with the relevant Ministries/Agencies.

This meeting was held following the demands of ex-East Timorese Indonesian citizens to the government, so that a common perception and argumentation was needed in dealing with ex-East Timorese citizens.
