Minister of Social Affairs Attends the Peak of Inauguration of Kulon Progo as the 8th KwSB
KULON PROGO (19 August 2020) - The Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, attended the inauguration of Kulon Progo Regency as the eighth Disaster Preparedness Area (KwSB) in Indonesia. The Disaster Preparedness Area in this Regency includes Temon District, Galur District, Panjatan District and Karangwuni District.
The Minister of Social Affairs explained that the KwSB development was carried out as an effort to increase community preparedness and mitigation in anticipating extraordinary disasters and reducing disaster risks in Kulon Progo Regency, especially the southern coastal areas of Java and Yogyakarta. In addition to developing a Disaster Alert Village into a Disaster Preparedness Area, the Ministry of Social Affairs has also developed facilities and infrastructure for evacuees in the event of a disaster.
On that occasion, the Ministry of Social Affairs also provided assistance to the Kulon Progo Regency Government and the Yogyakarta Province in the amount of IDR 1,601,808,000, consisting of Logistic Assistance for 4 KSB Social Granaries, each of IDR 160,059,350 with a total of IDR 640,237,400, assistance of 1 unit multipurpose truck worth IDR 445,012,500, 1 unit of general kitchen motor assistance worth IDR 55,608,300, up to logistical assistance for DIY Province worth IDR 460,949,800.
