Ministry of Social Affairs TRC Social Rehabilitation Conducts Social Service for Flood Victims in Jakarta

JAKARTA (January 5th 2020) - Social Service (Baksos) which was carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs' Quick Response Team (TRC) in the field of Social Rehabilitation for flood victims in Jakarta today focused on two locations, namely the Binawan University Campus Refuge Post, Cililitan University, East Jakarta and the Refugee Post Gedong Urban Village Office, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

At the Binawan Cililitan University Campus Refugee Post, East Jakarta, the Ministry of Social Affairs TRC for Social Rehsos conducted social assistance in the form of providing basic needs assistance, group dynamics therapy and ice breaking to victims affected by the New Year floods, especially children from a total of 360 refugees consisting of toddlers 78, children 138, elderly 107, and the rest of adults.

In implementing Social Service, the Ministry of Social Affairs TRC in the field of Social Rehabilitation collaborates with the Binawan University Social Welfare Study Program.

The aid was symbolically received by the Lecturer of the Social Welfare Study Program, Binawan University, Puspitasari. "Thank you very much for your assistance and this is very beneficial for refugees, especially children & the elderly. Alhamdulillah they are happier and their basic needs are met," he said.

The assistance provided for daily needs included instant noodles, milk, baby diapers, mineral water. Other needs that the refugees really need are mattresses, adult diapers, sanitary napkins, toiletries, clothes suitable for use, blankets, towels and children's play equipment.

The ice breaking activities and group dynamics include motor games, counting games, singing, dancing, and coloring. Game therapy is important to do to restore the joy of children after being affected by flooding.

After carrying out social services at the Refugee Command Post at Binawan University Cililitan, East Jakarta, the Ministry of Social Affairs TRC for Social Rehabilitation continued the social service to the Refugee Command Post at the Gedong Urban Village Office, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta. The number of refugees at this post is 115 families, 391 people.

Head of Gedong Urban Village, Pasar Rebo District, Jiji expressed his gratitude when symbolically accepting the assistance given. "Our gratitude goes to the TRC of the Ministry of Social Affairs for providing assistance with foodstuffs, mineral water, baby diapers and milk for toddlers. This assistance is very much needed for our residents in Gedong Village. Once again, thank you very much for TRC Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.
