PEMALANG (November 20, 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has extended the cash social assistance program (Bansos Tunai/BST) until 2021. This is done to provide opportunities for beneficiary families (KPM) who have not received BST.

"For BST recipients, I ask for re-validation so that the recipients are not just the same people. There are still many who need it," said Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara, while attending the distribution of social assistance activities at the Post Office in Taman District, Pemalang Regency, Central Java, Friday, November 20, 2020.

The extension of the BST program aims to maintain the national economic recovery of 10 million KPM in 34 provinces. The budget prepared to distribute BST is Rp12 trillion.

In addition to BST, the food assistance program for the basic food program was also extended to 18.8 million KPM, with a prepared budget of Rp45.12 trillion.

The decision to extend this is a form of the presence of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the midst of the community to help the underprivileged to meet their needs during this COVID-19 pandemic.

"As the Minister of Social Affairs, I always struggle and always try to make the recipients of aid during this pandemic not more difficult because of the impact of COVID-19," said Social Minister Juliari.

On that occasion, Social Minister Juliari provided BST and non-cash food assistance (BPNT) for the Basic Food Program to 40 KPM at the Taman Subdistrict Post Office. Giving is given to KPM representatives and still adheres to health protocols.

For Taman District, the number of KPM recipients of BPNT basic food cards is 21,124 KPM. Spread over 10 villages, worth Rp4.2 billion. Each KPM gets IDR 200.000 per month.

Then, as many as 4,065 KPM were recorded as receiving BST spread across 21 villages, worth Rp1.2 billion. Each KPM gets IDR 300.00 per month.

In addition to Pemalang Regency, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed BST and the Basic Food Program (BPNT) to 40 KPM representatives at the Karanganyar District Office, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java.

For Karanganyar District, the number of KPM recipients of the BPNT/Sembako Program is 5,227 KPM. Spread over 13 villages, worth Rp1.045 billion. Each KPM gets Rp200.000 per month.

Then, as many as 1,227 KPM were recorded as receiving BST spread across 13 villages, worth Rp368 million. Each KPM gets Rp300.000 per month.

"With the social assistance, it is hoped that it can be right on target, on time, and according to the targets set in supporting economic recovery and national economic resilience," said Director General of Poverty Handling (PFM) of Ministry of Social Affairs Asep Sasa Purnama.
