National Heroes' Day Pilgrimage November 10, 2023
JAKARTA (November 10, 2023) - The Indonesian President Joko Widodo led the National Pilgrimage Ceremony at the Kalibata Main National Heroes Cemetery (TMPN), Jakarta, Friday (10/11/2023). This ceremony was held to commemorate Heroes' Day which falls on November 10 every year.
The President arrived at Kalibata Main TMPN at 08.10 WIB accompanied by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia K.H. Ma'ruf Amin. The series of ceremonies began by remembering the battle of 10 November 1945 in Surabaya, marked by the sound of sirens for 60 seconds at 08.15 WIB.
Next, the President held a moment of silence for the heroes. The President also laid a wreath bearing the words Commemoration of Heroes' Day 2023 at the Tugu Plaza TMPN Utama Kalibata.
After the ceremony, the President and his entourage made a pilgrimage and scattered flowers and prayed at the graves of heroes, including the third President of the Republic of Indonesia BJ Habibie, Mrs. Ainun Habibie, Mrs. Ani Yudhoyono, the fourth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Umar Wirahadikusumah, and National Hero General (Ret.) Abdul Haris Nasution .
The theme for Heroes' Day 2023 is "Heroic Spirit for the Nation's Future in Fighting Poverty and Ignorance". This theme becomes the spirit that becomes the basis for daily actions in emulating the values of the hero's struggle in fighting poverty and ignorance.
