GOWA (April 9th 2020) - The Center for Elderly Social Rehabilitation (BRSLU) "Gau Mabaji" in Gowa held a Social Assistance Socialization for the Elderly Social Rehabilitation Program (PROGRES LU) with the Social Services Agency in 10 Working Areas. The ten regions cover the provinces of South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, NTT, NTB and Bali.

The activity, which was attended by 52 participants, was carried out through a teleconference from the Zoom application and was opened directly by the Head of the Elderly Center for Gau Mabaji, Syam Wuryani.

In his opening, Syam Wuryani said that one of the efforts of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs in dealing with the Corona virus pandemic outbreak was to accelerate the distribution of social assistance.

"Our effort in dealing with this Corona Virus Pandemic is by making efforts to accelerate the distribution of social assistance, one of which is through social assistance for the elderly", said Syam Wuryani.

We must ensure that the elderly, both personally, their families, institutions and activities can guarantee their health and welfare, added Syam Wuryani.

The Social Services Agency as a facilitator and the Social Welfare Institution (LKS) as the regulator can provide support that the state is present to provide the best services and assistance for the welfare of the elderly throughout Indonesia, especially those in the 10 working areas of the Gau Mabaji Elderly Center, said Syam Wuryani.

The opening ceremony was continued by providing socialization materials. The resource person for this socialization was the Head of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section, Subhan Kadir.

"Implementation of PROGRES LU Social Assistance Distribution will run smoothly if coordination between the Balai, Provincial Social Services Agency, Regency / City Social Services Agency, Village Governments and LKS can be well established," said Subhan.

For further coordination, there will also be technical assistance for the distribution of PROGRES LU Social Assistance with elderly assistants at LKS 10 in the Coverage Areas.
