The Importance of Social Counselor as Mediator of Poverty Reduction Implementation

(4 June 2021) - Chairman of
Commission VIII, Yandri Susanto attended a priority social counseling activity
with the theme "Prevention of the Risks and Impacts of Stunting for
Children for Social Welfare".
"Community social counselor (Pensosmas)
can be a mediator between the community and the government, especially the
implementation of programs in poverty reduction. You can also straighten out
the hoaxes that exist in the community," Yandri said in front of Social Counselors
throughout Indonesia who were present through face-to-face and online platform,
Friday (4/06/21).
Furthermore, he said that if this was done, it
could change social behavior and instill good human values in society.
"I believe that Social Counselors are the
chosen and tough people because not everyone can care about social
problems," he said.
Meanwhile, on the same occasion, the Head of
the Educational Research and Social Extension Board, Syahabuddin stated that
the efforts in priority social counseling are part of an important element in
the implementation of social welfare.
"I want Social Counselor Services to be
informative, communicative, and solutive," explained Syahabuddin.
In this activity, social counselors also
participated in technical guidance organized by the Social Counseling Center
(Puspensos) in developing their capacity.
