Visiting Sumedang, Director General of PFM Expects Jatigede Reservoir to Become a Location for Social Tourism

SUMEDANG (December 13, 2020) - The Director General of Poverty Handling (PFM), Asep Sasa Purnama paid a visit to Sumedang Regency. During his visit, the Director General of PFM opened the Micro Small Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Product Title activity and continued by visiting the Jatigede Reservoir (13/12).

Present on the occasion were the Regional Secretary of Sumedang Regency, Herman Suryatman, Head of the Social Work Study Program for the Applied Undergraduate Program at the Bandung Social Welfare Polytechnic, Aep Rusmana, and the Activator of Self-reliance and Food Security in Sumedang Regency, Agus Somamihardja.

In his direction, the Director General of PFM said that the Ministry of Social Affairs' programs, including the Basic Food Program (formerly BPNT) and Cash Social Assistance (BST) had been massively implemented in Sumedang Regency. He said that one of the areas where there were quite a number of beneficiary families (KPM) was around the Jatigede Reservoir.

In addition, the Director General of PFM conveyed the future direction of structuring the Jatigede reservoir area so that it was scheduled to become a social tourism area. "There is eco tourism, agro tourism, I think we also need to develop social tourism," said the Director General of PFM.

The Director General of PFM also hopes that the villages around the Jatigede Reservoir can become pilots if they become social tourism. "Villages in the Jatigede reservoir area can become pilot projects for other villages, therefore we also encourage Social Welfare Polytechnic (Poltekesos) how to help design a social tourism agenda," explained the Director General of PFM.

The Regional Secretary of Sumedang Regency expressed his hope that the Jatigede Reservoir would become a world-class tourist destination and be able to provide benefits to local residents. "We need to inform you that the big dream, big picture of the Jatigede tourist area wants to create a world-class tourist destination," said the Regional Secretary of Sumedang Regency.
